June 21st is the looongest day of the year, so what better idea than to go looongboarding!! Ha! No really skaters of all kinds showed up to Mission Beach on Saturday for our 3rd Annual International Go Skateboarding Day Boardwalk Poker Run. Over 300 shredders bombed the boardwalk and made stops along the way collecting playing cards to see how good of a hand the could build for cash and prizes from Sector 9. Joggers, old ladies, and surf rats cleared the way as 300+9ers carved their way through Mission Beach's famous boardwalk. The day was perfect for skating and surfing as people from all over came down in carpools to join in on Sector 9's Push Don't Pollute enviro theme for this year. After arriving at the finish line at South Mission jetty more fun action went down with Wahoo's Fish Taco, X1FM, and Keep A Breast helping out with the action!! Red Bull was also in full effect with the lovely ladies handing out hundreds of Red Bulls. There were wheel barrel races, an egg toss, foot races, and hidden treasure digs in the sand!! Crowd pleaser had to be the egg toss which left more than a few dripping with yolk. Thanks to all the groms who helped clean up the beach and congratulations to our main man Max who won $400 dollars and a new Sector 9!! Special thanks to our sponsors Hanger 94 and Sun Diego who helped with some card pick stations. Big thanks go out to all the people who came down to celebrate the art of skateboarding. See you next year!!! But remember everyday should be Go Skateboarding Day!!!
